Location
The District of Fort St. James is a historic and resourceful community of approximately 1400, serving a local area of approximately 4500 people. The unceded territory of Nak’azdli Whut’en is home to Fort St. James, offering opportunities for the optimal life-work balance! The District is a place for wilderness and cultural experiences, in a superb setting of lakes, and mountains.
Duties
The District is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer to handle the overall management of the District’s daily operations. You can provide professional advice and direction to Mayor and Council, and will play an active role in ensuring that the District’s dedicated staff achieve their goals. You will help build and continue strong relationships with other local and Indigenous governments, the not-for-profit sector, and the business community. You are someone who will appreciate life in a small community and serving as an ambassador of our area.
Requirements
- A friendly and approachable disposition, an excellent sense of humor, and empathy.
- The ability to employ the rules of common sense, and outstanding people skills.
- Balanced technical and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to be a “quick study” on local issues and BC legislation.
- Post-secondary education related to public administration, business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A proven track record of success at the managerial level.
Candidates who have land use planning, project management, asset management, public works or accounting backgrounds/certification will be considered candidates with “added value” skillsets for current municipal priorities.
