Planners
District of Kitimat
This posting is now closed. Tall Cedars thanks all applicants.
With a current population just over 8000, the District of Kitimat is looking to attract talented individuals for two open positions:
The Role
- Regular Full Time Planner and
- Temporary Regular Full Time Planner (Maternity Leave)
Reporting to the Director of Planning, the Planners will provide technical and community planning advice guided by the Official Community Plan, Kitimat Municipal Code, Downtown Design Guidelines, Leisure Services Master Plan, Housing Action Plan related policy documents, best practices and provincial legislation.
Kitimat is a master-planned “greenbelt” community in British Columbia’s northwest coast region. With its solid tax base and financial resources, Kitimat offers a high standard of living and excellent municipal services. The community features air links to larger urban centres and boundless access to outdoor pursuits.
As the District looks ahead to a surge of investment in housing, commercial, and light industrial space, the new Planner will help the District live up to its tag line: “A Marvel of Nature and Industry.” The role will focus on completing planning assignments related to development permits, variances, temporary use applications, official community plans, zoning and special projects.
Your background includes an undergraduate degree in planning or a related field, knowledge of local government practices in community planning, and relevant work experience. Applicants will have either a Regional Professional Planner in BC Designation or be eligible to become a BCRPP. Member or Candidate Member of PIBC is preferred. You fully understand the challenges you will meet and have an accomplished track record demonstrating your capabilities.
This would be an excellent opportunity for an experienced mid-level Planner who is seeking a new challenge in a senior-level position. This is a bargaining unit position of Unifor 2300. The wage rate is $40.43/hr for applicants without their RPP designation or $42.40/hr for applicants with their RPP designation.
