The Location
The North Coast Skeena First Nation Stewardship Society (NCSFNSS) serves the governments and peoples of the Gitga’at. Gitxaala, Kitselas, and Kitsumkalum First Nations. We are honoured to have the opportunity to work in their traditional territories, learn from the people we work with, and to support the assertion and affirmation of the respective jurisdictions, rights, and title that each of the First Nations hold. We are dedicated to preserving and managing the rich natural resources of our region in a sustainable and culturally respectful manner. We work closely with communities and partners to ensure the health and vitality of our environment and traditional practices.
As the Executive Director of NCSFNSS, you will play a pivotal role in leading our organization towards its mission. You will oversee strategic planning, governance, project and people management, financial administration, and stakeholder engagement. With a strong emphasis on record-keeping, compliance and culture, you will ensure that all activities align with our values and objectives..

What You Will Do:
- Strategic Leadership: Prepare, plan, and facilitate quarterly Board meetings, ensuring effective communication and consensus-building among stakeholders. You will be the driving force behind developing our long-term vision and strategy.
- Implementation Coordination: Coordinate the implementation of decisions and initiatives, working closely with Board members, First Nations, agencies, stakeholders, and partners. Your ability to liaise effectively and prepare comprehensive reports will be crucial in driving our projects forward.
- Funding Development: Identify funding sources, prepare compelling proposals, and manage funding agreements to support new and existing initiatives. Your proactive approach in securing financial resources will enable us to expand our impact.
- Project Management: Oversee the management and execution of projects and initiatives, providing guidance and leadership to staff, consultants, and partners. Your strong supervision skills will ensure the successful delivery of our objectives.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that staff and contractors adhere to reporting requirements outlined in funding agreements, maintaining accountability and transparency in our operations.
- Capacity Building: Conduct regular reviews of staff and contractor roles and responsibilities, ensuring that our team has the necessary capacity to deliver on our commitments.
- Financial Administration: Administer the Stewardship Society budget with diligence and prudence, allocating resources effectively to maximize impact.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other duties as agreed upon by the Board of Directors and yourself, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to our organizational goals.
What We Value:
- Experience, Knowledge and Expertise: Proven experience in senior leadership roles, preferably within non-profit or Indigenous organizations. Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and governance structures is an asset.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, business administration, Indigenous studies).

We offer a salary of between $110K to $125K with benefits, a flexible work schedule including compressed work week, a hybrid work environment, and a great opportunity to lead an organization that is committed to driving towards our mission.
