We’re on the prowl for a Deputy Fire Chief to join our team:

Under the general direction of the Director of Fire and Emergency Services (Fire Chief), this position serves in the valuable role of second-in-command.  The Deputy Director’s contributions will assist in the achievement of the Department’s objectives, as set out by the Fire Chief.  This is a hands-on position that will utilize your significant experience in firefighting, some of which will have been at an officer level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
(BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• Completion post-secondary education in Fire Service Management, local government, public administration, or emergency service management
• Clean criminal record
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level 2, NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level 2, NFPA 1031 Level 1 Fire Inspector, NFPA 1033 Level 1 Fire Investigator, and NFPA 1041 Level 2 Fire Service Instructor
• Wildland Firefighting, ICS 300
• First Responder Level 3
• Valid Class 3 BC driver’s licence with air endorsement

KEY JOB DUTIES INCLUDE
(BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• Assist with administration and response/operations of fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, medical first response and highway road rescue services
• Help to develop and implement practices and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operation of the Department
• Support activities related to enforcement and compliance of municipal bylaws.
• Assist with coordinating internal and external stakeholders/agencies to ensure information is coordinated and distributed effectively.
• Ensure all records are maintained for incidents and other departmental data as required.
• Other duties as required
