The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District wants you for their new Community Project and Engagement Manager (CPEM). Reporting directly to the General Manager of Planning and Development (GMPD), you will play a key role in guiding, coordinating, and implementing community engagement initiatives. This is your chance to ensure that the public, impacted parties, and participating communities all have a voice in shaping the future development of our region.  

 WHERE IS THE JOB?

The ACRD is situated in the heart of Vancouver Island with one of the most dramatic and majestic landscapes. Imagine working in a region renowned for world-class mountain biking trails, surfing, hiking and unparalleled recreational fishing. The ACRD encompasses the essence of “West Coast” living, spanning municipalities like Tofino, Ucluelet, the City of Port Alberni, four Treaty First Nation groups, and six electoral areas. United by the spirit of “we are all one,” we foster a culture of collaboration within the ACRD.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

The CPEM will lead a team of ACRD staff and contracted support services dedicated to both effective engagement and the development of resulting plans. Your unique role will require high levels of collaboration with project specific teams that may also include elected officials, consultants, and external partners.  Your job will be strategically linked to the promotion of sustainable growth, economic vitality, and overall quality of life in the ACRD.

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TEAM?

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in community engagement, communications, urban planning, or a related field; and at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of project management or planning principles, public engagement, public relations or marketing, and community development.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Skilled in facilitating workshops, meetings, and public engagement activities.
  • Knowledge of, project management software and other relevant tools for data analysis and planning.
