The Town of Qualicum Beach is recruiting a Director of Infrastructure Services who is a proven, progressive leader. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director is responsible for the planning, development and management of the Town’s built infrastructure and natural assets. This includes roads, drainage systems, facilities, parks, water and sewer systems, wetlands, urban forest, and other natural areas under the Town’s responsibility. The successful candidate will lead a team of professionals to ensure that these built and natural assets are maintained, replaced, and developed in a sustainable, climate adapted and cost-effective manner. The Director is an integral member of the senior management team, providing collaborative, organization-wide leadership, and a variety of strategic and professional advice.

The successful candidate demonstrates strong leadership, values collaboration, and excels in building effective working relationships in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. They are forward-thinking, adaptable, and able to anticipate challenges while aligning efforts to achieve results. Analytical and decisive, they value teamwork and understand organizational complexities. Their ability to inspire confidence, foster relationships, and uphold the organization’s values—professionalism, respect, and continuous improvement—is key. Leading engineering and operations services with a focus on environmental sustainability, climate adaptation, and customer service will be crucial to their success in this role.

The ideal candidate will hold a university degree in civil engineering or a closely related field, preferably at the graduate level, and have seven or more years of relevant leadership experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia and experience as a statutory Approving Officer is an asset.
