Engineering Technologist II

A well-kept secret hidden within the Upper Fraser Valley of BC‘s southwest coastal region, the District of Kent offers a friendly community spirit with a diverse economy in agriculture, industrial development, tourism, and government services. With a population of just over 6000, the District is offering an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technologist II.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering Services, you will assist in the efficient operation of the Engineering Services Department. You are skilled at handling complex duties, and you complete your technical tasks within project parameters, engineering practices, and District policies. You’re comfortable speaking with a wide range of people in person and on the phone, handling questions about municipal infrastructure, environmental requirements, and related programs. You know how to prepare preventative, maintenance, and asset management plans, with a clear and professional writing style.
You will bring:
- A post secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 3* years progressive experience in a municipal engineering environment; or recognized equivalent training and experience in an engineering, project management, or development environment.
- (*The Employer is open to considering fewer than 3 years of experience, if you possess other advanced-level skillsets or experiences that will immediately enhance the work of the Department.)
- Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Membership or eligibility to pursue membership with the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC).
- Language proficiency in English (equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark /CLB Level 9).
